While studying business at the University of Texas, Ryan ended up following a friend to a documentary photography class on a whim. The journalism department happened to share a building with the RTF school and he began sneaking into film classes to see filmmakers screen experimental films. After a year of (uncredited) film school an opening came up for the darkroom in the art department and Ryan fell hard for the red light. He left the University of Texas with a new found passion for cinema and a deep appreciation for the power of photography.
“The photograph has the ability to freeze time. A still image can communicate, educate, and motivate change. I’m fascinated by the delicate balance between man and mother nature and often explore this intricacy in my work.”
